Primary Function
The Superintendent – Excavation directs the activities of union and non-union workers involved in the construction of highways, runways, site development infrastructure, and other heavy highway projects.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan construction procedures based on project timelines and staffing requirements.
- Schedule crews, equipment, tools, and materials to align with the work schedule.
- Coordinate daily and weekly subcontractor work; maintain ongoing communication with the Project Manager.
- Monitor project progress, material usage, and costs; adjust schedules as needed in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Record time and quantities daily with assistance from the Project Engineer.
- Inspect work in progress to ensure quality and adherence to specifications and timelines.
